A fabulous 18th Century Italian Olive wood dresser with silver metal inlay dating from c 1770. The rectangular Olive wood top with silver metal double strung edge above a long Olive wood cushion drawer with ebony and metal strung border and scrolled acanthus leaf silver metal ( probably pewter) inlaid marquetry decoration above a pair of metal strung and inlaid doors flanked by bombe shaped edges with acanthus leaf metal marquetry. Below, a single long drawer with corresponding inlay, the whole being supported on shaped bracket feet with metal acanthus leaf marquetry inlay. The bombe shaped sides with corresponding ebony and silver metal marquetry inlay. The cupboard interior with single shelf ( replacement ) The whole of outstanding colour and patination with fine figured veneers. In good condition with various marks,stains, bumps consistent with age and use. A couple of minor losses to silver metal inlay and hair cracks in the veneer on the sides due to very slight historic movement to the ground wood. 750
