An early George II period figured walnut Bureau of outstanding colour and patina dating from c 1730. The quarter veneered and cross banded top and fall front above two short and two long cross banded drawers with pierced brass handles and escutcheons. The solid walnut sides with cross banded front edge. The figured Walnut Bureau interior with central writing well, central cupboard with flanking drawers and pidgeon holes. The whole resting on a shaped skirt with shaped bracket feet. Beautiful figured Walnut, outstanding colour, good condition with a myriad of minor scratches and marks consistent with age and use. Two replaced back boards and the ground wood on the fall front has moved slightly over time. Original lock on the fall front, the key facilitates opening and closing of front but does not turn lock.
