A very large and imposing Louis XV period solid Walnut Armoire dating from c 1750. The stepped concave cornice with rounded corners above a decorative carved frieze above a large pair of doors with cartouche shaped panels original iron hinges and escutcheons and original working locks and key. The corners, rounded and carved, the sides of paneled form. The cavernous interior with two adjustable original shelves and lined with old patterned fabric ( can be removed). Below, a shaped skirt with scrolled carved border, the whole resting on cabriole scrolled feet. Excellent condition, beautiful colour and patina with the two upper door panels lighter in colour due to light exposure ( can be matched in if desired although very attractive as is). Various minor marks, scratches, abrasions, bumps etc consistent with age and use. The Armoire is of pegged construction and completely dismantles to pack flat for ease of access and delivery. 1850
