A large mid 18th Century Brazilian Jacaranda wood gate leg dining table dating from c 1750. The top of sectional construction with a frieze drawer at both ends over turned legs with gate leg action. The method of construction and particularly the overlapping drawer fronts and use of Brazilian Jacaranda wood suggests that this table is Portuguese in origin. The top has a couple of repaired patched sections but otherwise seems to be constructed in a sectional manner utilizing a patchwork of small wood sections. In good condition with various minor marks, scratches and abrasions etc consistent with age and use. The table would comfortably sit 8 people, 10 at a push. 1100
