A fine French 19th Century Louis XV style solid Walnut serpentine shaped Commode dating from c 1870. The 4cm thick serpentine shaped varigated marble top above four long serpentine shaped drawers, the drawer fronts with fine carved floral decoration and with Rococo brass handles and escutcheons, the carving being carved from the thick timber to the drawer fronts rather than an applied moulding. Below, a similarly carved and scrolled skirt, with curved and carved edges and paneled serpentine sides , the whole resting on carved acanthus legs terminating with escargot feet. A beautiful mellow colour, fantastic original condition with very few minor marks that are a feature of age and use. 1950
