A late 18th Century Dutch Mahogany Escritoire with marquetry inlay and dating from c 1790. The top with moulded edge above a single long drawer with chequered ebony and Satin wood stringing and brass handles and escutcheons above a fall front with corresponding chequered Ebony and Satinwood inlay and decorated with inlaid ribbons and swags with central Satin wood oval panel with floral inlay utilizing various exotic woods and flanking columnal inlaid edge with brass corinthian capitals and base. The interior with compartments and six drawers and with green baize writing surface. Below, a pair of cupboard doors with similar inlaid decoration and containing a single shelf, the whole standing on tapering legs terminating with brass feet. Beautiful colour, various minor marks, scratches, bumps etc consistent with age and use. Some historic movement to the ground wood of the fall front, which is stable causing slight veneer tearing which has been repaired
