A mid 18th Century southern German figured walnut bureau cabinet dating from c 1750 of serpentine or Arc en Arbalette form. The top with decorative broken arched cornice above a central shaped cross banded, inlaid and arched door containing two shelves and flanked by six shaped cross banded short drawers above a single long shaped drawer, all with decorative ormolu handles and escutcheons. The Bureau base with double cross banded and inlaid figured walnut fall front with original lock and key containing an embossed leather writing surface and three short drawers, and flanked by two small shaped drawers above three long cross banded and shaped drawers, all with ormolu handles and escutcheons. The sides cross banded figured walnut, the whole standing on turned feet. Good condition with various minor marks, scratches etc consistent with age and use. Of outstanding fine deep mellow colour and patina. 4500
