A pair of 17th Century carved Oak side chairs dating from c 1660. The backs with carved top arch and carved fielded central panel, side supports and lower frieze. The planked seat supported on and arcade carved rail above turned legs with a turned stretcher and terminating with small inverted cup feet. The chairs are identical except for a shaped skirt below the front of the arcaded frieze on one of the chairs. Examination of the other chair indicates that this chair never had this feature. I have to conclude that this is a pair of chairs perhaps made for "him and her" with the shaped skirt to differentiate. 1250
