A 19th Century Louis XVI style Kingwood Secretaire Commode. The shaped varigated marble top above a secretaire drawer above a further two inverted breakfronted long drawers with Satin wood and Kingwood parquetry inlays and with the original brass handles and escutcheons. The curved Satin wood inlaid corners with brass decorative mounts, the concave sides with corresponding parquetry inlaid decoration. The base of the Commode with shaped inverted breakfronted skirt with decorative brass mount, the whole supported on cabriole legs terminating in decorative brass caps. The Secretaire interior with three Satin wood drawers and leather writing surface. Lovely mellow colour, excellent condition with various minor marks, scratches etc consistent with age and use. All brasses are original. A portion of the leather writing surface is damaged, a new leather will be fitted according to the buyers choice of colour included in the purchase price. here is a white line in the marble that runs from the right side to the back ( see photo ) this is not a crack but a natural feature in the rock. 1650
