A fine and extremely rare set of six William and Mary period Walnut chairs comprising two carvers and four dining chairs. The chairs with high ,carved arched back with central caned back support flanked by turned columns, the carvers with scrolled arm rest supported on turned inverted half couplets. The seats with caned base supported on four legs, the front legs being turned inverted half couplets with uniting elaborately carved arched stretcher with further turned uniting stretchers for the other legs. The caning is in excellent usable condition and whilst old is unlikely to be original. All joints are firm and the chairs can be used. They also come with later fitted hard cushioned seats for comfort and to protect the seat caning (see photos)
